Lsyncd is a multi-mode file synchronization tool, which works in real time and uses two ways to do it. Today we want to make a mention about the most important features that we can appreciate in this tool, it should be noted that this is only our opinion and from the technical point of view each user has different needs and expectations, therefore, the suggestion is not to take this opinion as unique and absolute, but on the contrary look at it as a content that can add value and be useful for you, so that allows you to get better performance from the tool.
Lsyncd's main contributions to the user • Lsyncd was designed to synchronize a local directory tree with a low profile of expected changes on a remote mirror. Therefore, the major contribution of Lsyncd is its ability to synchronize data from a secure area to a not-so-secure area. • Compared to other products on the market, Lsyncd is easier to install, since it does not require any new file system or any locking device, as well as it does not hinder the performance of the local file system. • Another interesting feature is that it does not require changing the block devices and/or mount points, the system allows you to change the uid/gid of the transferred files, just as it separates the receiver through the one-way nature of rsync. • And finally another point in its favor is that it is a free software, which is obtained through a GPLv2 license or any later GPL version.
If we can mention some negative aspect about Lsyncd is that being a free software, it does not present any kind of guarantees to the user, as it usually happens with free software.
Our opinión
Lsyncd is a simple tool, which fulfills the function for which it was designed, possibly it is not the best tool or the most complete of today, but it is efficient to synchronize files in real time, and that is a feature that certainly places it among the most necessary tools of today.
