Introduction

Wuhan was the first province in china, where the outbreak of covid-19 began. For the first two months since December. Since then, Chinese government decided to lockdown Wuhan from the outside world.

Statistics indicate that the two thirds of the total cases in china came from Wuhan, with several medics succumbing in the process.

Clearly, the government policies played the greatest role in defining the lockdown, especially since china is a ‘dictatorial’ state.

Below is list of strategies that the Xin Ping’s Government used in containing corona Virus

1. Mandatory to wear masks-

President Xin issued a government statement making it illegal not to wear masks, and could warrant arrest. This contradicts the .WH.O guidelines that indicate wearing masks only when sick. The same has been put into effect by countries like Kenya.

Wuhan underwent a total lockdown with no one coming into the city or exiting it. Police even ordered wielding of doors with residents locked inside where the endemic was highest.

All foodstuffs in China needed to be inspected by guards for validation. Only drugs and medicines were allowed for transport.

6. Government spraying endemic areas Unlike most countries, China has evicted people from roads and sprayed the environment with chlorine and ethanol killing the novel virus.

7. Contact Tracing has been used by most countries. It involves quarantining at least 5 recent contacts with whom the patient was in contact with.

8. Door to door health checks

USA-20,000 plus cases

USA has opted to encourage self-quarantine despite not using legislation to emphasize this. However, social distancing is made mandatory. Spraying of affected areas has also been undertaken by the federal government.

To avoid economic regression, The USA is unlikely to force a complete lockdown. USA uses a mixed economic policy, unlike China’s which is dictated by the government. In case of an impending crisis, President Trump could declare a state of emergency that could allow him to lockdown most facilities under legislation.

The lockdown in the US is imposed to reduce the incidence of new disease, before drugs and vaccines arrive.
